can you put polyurethane over laminate flooring and counter tops?

I bought a laminate pre fab countertop and, although it looks good,It’s rather dull looking. Can I put polyurethane on it to make it shine? Also the same problem with laminate flooring.Looks good but lacks the shine!

No, the poly won’t stick to the laminate, and you will have a mess on your hands. Laminate floors and countertops aren’t designed to have a high gloss on them. Sorry. Good luck.

Your counter tops and flooring are a plastic type of product. Any type of finish applied may damage the original..It could even dissolve the surface and ruin everything. I would try a type of wax, like for cars on the counter. Can’t really say what to try on the floors.
